Wrestlers and Delhi Police clash at Jantar Mantar is subjugating others to interfere to maintain non-violence

Today is the 12th day of the strike of wrestlers at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi. There was a clash between the wrestlers and the police who were protesting late on Wednesday night. The wrestlers allege that the drunken policemen beat them up and abused them. At the same time, the police say that Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Somnath Bharti reached the picket site with a bed, when he was stopped, the wrestlers started a brawl.

Wrestlers are on strike over the arrest of Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. Hearing on this matter is also to be held in the Supreme Court today itself.

Wrestler Bajrang Punia said after the clash with the police – We will return the medals we have won to the Government of India. If this kind of behavior happens even after bringing laurels to the country, then we do not want this medal. Delhi Police and Brij Bhushan’s men have wanted to spoil this dharna from the very beginning. Sometimes casteism, sometimes regionalism is being given the name.

Rajya Sabha MP from Congress Deepender Hooda, Delhi Commission for Women Swati Maliwal, AAP leader Saurabh Bhardwaj, and MLA Kuldeep reached Jantar Mantar, police have taken them into custody.

Vinesh said that the policemen attacked his brother. One is in the hospital, while the other injured wrestler fell unconscious on the ground. Vinesh said while crying – was it for this day that we had brought the medal for the country? Till now we haven’t even eaten food and the police are doing vandalism.

Police have taken many people including Somnath Bharti into custody. Dushyant, brother of female wrestler Vinesh Phogat, suffered head injuries during the clash. Another wrestler Rahul is also injured. Wrestlers also held a press conference shortly after the uproar. During this Vinesh and Sakshi started crying. He said that he had brought medals for the country to see on this very day.
