A day after BCCI finalized that there would be no Ranji Trophy for the first time in 87 years, the BCCI has reportedly earmarked for the second week of April as the Start of IPL 2021 at home.
With the successful hosting of the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament, the first of any cricket in India since March 2020, the BCCI has now set itself on the path to host domestic tournaments -Vijay Hazare Trophy and one Day Tournament for Women in February and March, followed by The Indian Premier League in April.
The BCCI will conduct the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League at home and has earmarked the Wankhede Stadium, Brabourne Stadium, DY Patil Stadium, Reliance Cricket Stadium in Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) Stadium, and the Motera Stadium for the knockouts.
As per the reports the IPL tournament is slated to start in the second week of April between April 11 and 14, with the final being slated on June 6.
Hence the BCCi is giving more preference to limited over cricket as in the upcoming future, Team India has a lot of international fixtures.
For the unversed Last year’s IPL was a huge hit due to record viewership and it is expected that with IPL coming home new records will be broken and set.
