Why Ashneer Grover was unable to afford Salman Khan for an ad?

July 17, 2022 (New Delhi): An anecdote related to Bollywood superstar Salman Khan of Ashneer Grover of Shark Tank India has come to light. He once tried to make an endorsement deal with Salman, but he managed to get the deal despite not being able to afford his fees. Now how it was possible, let us tell you in their tone.

Ashneer, the co-founder and former managing director of Indian fintech company BharatPe, recalled the incident when he approached Salman to be a brand ambassador. Although initially he was told that he would not be able to afford his fees.

Some time ago, while addressing the students of a university, Ashneer had narrated this anecdote. He said that he was trying to run his company. At that time, he had about 100 crores in his bank account and he thought of making Salman as a brand ambassador to increase the confidence of his investors and clients.

Ashneer said, “I decided to have Salman as the brand ambassador in 2019. At that time no one could have thought of it. My company was very small and I had to build confidence for my business in one night. So I thought I should take Salman as the brand ambassador.”

Ashneer further said, “When I approached Salman’s team, they told me that they would charge 7.5 crores. Then I started counting that I have 100 crores in my account. I will give them 7.5 crores, then one or two crores will be spent on ad and then I will have to give to the broadcasters also. A total of 20 crores was going to be spent and I had only 100 crores in my pocket. So I directly asked Salman to reduce his price and he agreed to do it for 4.5 crores.”

During this, Ashneer also told an incident regarding the meeting with Salman Khan’s team. He said, “At one time his manager started telling me, ‘Sir, have you come to buy bhindi, you mean how many mandwali will you do’. I said, sir, there is no money. Can’t even give.”
