Virat Kohli Praises Aiden Markram After Opener Hits Ton Against Australia

Aiden Markram has stated that it is a special feeling to hear praise from one of the guys he looks forward to in cricket – Virat Kohli. Earlier, Virat Kohli, who is enjoying a break from cricket, had posted words of praise for the South African opener, who played two splendid innings in this series.

Impressed by the 23-year-old’s brilliant knock at the New Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg, India skipper Virat Kohli took to Twitter and lavished praised on the South African batsman. Following his knock of 152 off 216 balls, Markram made it clear that the appreciation is mutual.

Markram confirmed that the appreciation is mutual. “It’s quite a special feeling. There are a lot of players that I look up to who are a bit older than me and he is one of them,” Markram said after his century. “His competitiveness is something to admire and his motivation to keep scoring runs is something I’ve tried to take on board.”

Markram also thanked the Indian skipper. “He came across and said, ‘Well played, you were unlucky to get out.’ It was a great touch from him. He is a massive competitor as everyone sees on the TV, but it’s great to see that he has got good values that people off the field might not see. It was a great gesture and it meant a lot.”

Currently, South Africa are leading the series 2-1 and if the team will be able to win the fourth Test, it will be their first home Test series win post-apartheid.
