Vande Bharat Express(Train18) breaks down on the next day of its launch

A day after Vande Bharat Express (Train 18) was flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday, the indigenous train broke down while returning from Varanasi early on Saturday.

The train was halted around 5:30 am at Bahrain, 18 kilometres from Tundla in Uttar Pradesh. The train was returning from Varanasi for its first commercial run. The commercial run will start from Sunday, February 17.

According to media reports, four coaches of the train experienced electrical outage and the breaks were also jammed due to engine failure. The train was fixed by 8:15 am after all the required technical work was done.

However, the railway officials said that the disruption occurred due to a cattle run over by the rain. The train is a part of the government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative.

The train was flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 14, however the event was shadowed by Pulwama terror attack. The train’s flagging off ceremony took place without any use of flower.

The time travel of Delhi to Varanasi took eight hours compared to 13-14 hours of travel in other trains.
