Sports minister flagged off Fit India Freedom Run 2.0, running marathon to be organised in various states including Delhi and Maharashtra
The country’s Sports Minister Anurag Singh Thakur today launched Fit India Freedom Run 2.0. He today launched the nationwide program of Fit India Freedom Run 2.0 through video conferencing. During this, along with Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Anurag Singh Thakur, Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Nisith Pramanik was also present. Apart from this, members of organizations like BSF, CISF, CRPF, Railways, NYKS, ITBP, NSG, SSB also attended the event.
Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur said, to celebrate the Amrit Mahotsav of Azadi, we have launched Fit India Freedom Run 2.0 across the country. It has been launched today at 75 prestigious locations. This campaign will run till October 2. In this, 75 villages of each district of the country will participate. He said that in the coming days till October 2, people of every district and every village would participate in this movement. Last time 5 crore people joined us and this time 75 crore people will join us directly. I hope this number will increase as the campaign progresses.
On the launch of Fit India Freedom Run 2.0, Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur said that as we move from 75th to 100th year of our independence, it is up to all of us that in which direction we take the country in those 25 years. This is possible only when we stay fit.
Race program in many states of the country:
Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur and MoS (Sports) Nisith Pramanik flagged off Fit India Freedom Run 2.0 in Delhi.
Fit India Freedom Run 2.0 in Maharashtra was flagged off from the Gateway of India in Mumbai. 40 NSG (National Security Guard) commandos are participating in the race.
Fit India Freedom Run 2.0 in Punjab was flagged off from the Attari-Wagah border in Amritsar. BSF (Border Security Force) personnel are taking part in the race.
The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports is organizing Fit India Freedom Run 2.0 across the country as a part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav- India@75 Celebrations. Taking inspiration from the Prime Minister’s inaugural address during the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav on March 12, 2021, the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has conceptualized the organization of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav under the pillar of Action and Sankalp @ 75.

Program organized in 75 villages
Under this program, programs will be organized in 75 districts and 75 villages of each district every week till October 2, 2021. Thus, “Fit India Freedom Run” in 744 districts, 75 villages and 30,000 educational programs have been organized in each of 744 districts. Through this initiative, more than 7.50 crore youth and citizens have reached out to institutions across the country to participate in the race.
