Shahid Kapoor’s ‘O’Romeo’ Gets Legal Shield as Madras High Court Blocks Piracy

The Madras High Court on Wednesday granted an interim anti-piracy injunction to protect the copyright in the upcoming Shahid Kapoor-starrer O’Romeo [Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment v. BSNL].

Justice Senthilkumar Ramamoorthy passed an interim order restraining the unauthorised broadcast, transmission or dissemination of the film by internet service providers (ISPs) and cable television operators ahead of the film’s theatrical release.

The Court observed that in matters involving pre-release piracy, the injury caused to producers is immediate and irreversible. Once a film is unlawfully circulated online, the financial and commercial damage cannot be undone.
