Shaheed Diwas: India pays tribute to the sacrifices of Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev, Rajguru

March23, 2022 (New Delhi ): India is celebrating it’s “Shaheed Diwas” on Wednesday. Also known as Martyrs’ Day, the day is observed every year on March 23 to mark the remarkable day when Britishers hanged India’s three young revolutionaries Bhagat Singh, Raj guru and Sukhdev in the year 1931. PM Modi has inaugurated the Biplobi Bharat Gallery at Victoria Memorial Hall, Kolkata via videoconferencing today.

Modi took to Twitter on March 22, Tuesday, and said, “23rd March is a special day for us as we all observe Shaheed Diwas. At 6 PM tomorrow, PM Modi will inaugurate the Biplobi Bharat Gallery at Victoria Memorial Hall, Kolkata via VC. It will showcase the contributions of those who devoted their lives for our freedom.” The day is being celebrated in different states of the country with unique impact. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann also declared a public holiday on this special occasion.

The martyrdom day of legendary freedom fighters Bhagat Singh, RajGuru and Sukhdev holds a special place in everyone’s heart. Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal announced on Tuesday that students have to prepare for the armed forces and the government school will be named after freedom fighter Bhagat Singh. The school will be established on a 14-acre campus at “Jharoda Kalan” with state of art facilities.

It will be affiliated to the Delhi Board of School Education,” a government official said. On the eve of Bhagat Singh’s death anniversary, the chief minister said, “March 23 is the day of martyrdom of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh. It was on this day in 1931 that our great freedom fighters, Bhagat Singh, Raj guru and Sukhdev were hanged to death by the Britishers. All of three sacrificed their lives for the country, with the sole notion to fight for the freedom and peace of the country.
