Shantanu Mukherjee, popularly known as Shaan, is one of India’s most celebrated playback singers and music composers. Born on September 30, 1972, in Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh, Shaan comes from a family with a strong musical background. His father, the late Manas Mukherjee, was a renowned music director, and his sister, Sagarika, is also a singer.
Shaan began his career in the 1990s, initially singing jingles and remixes, before rising to fame with albums like Loveology and Tanha Dil, which became iconic. He soon established himself in Bollywood, lending his voice to leading actors across generations. Known for his smooth, soulful, and versatile style, he has sung in multiple languages, including Hindi, Bengali, Kannada, Telugu, and Marathi.
Over the years, Shaan has delivered countless chart-topping hits such as “Chand Sifarish,” “Jab Se Tere Naina,” and “Behti Hawa Sa Tha Woh.” His ability to adapt to both romantic ballads and peppy tracks has made him a favorite among music lovers.
Apart from playback singing, Shaan has hosted popular television shows like Sa Re Ga Ma Pa and worked as a mentor for aspiring singers. With his melodious voice and humble personality, Shaan remains a timeless icon in Indian music.
