Sachin Tendulkar continues to impress young cricketers even off the field; sanctions Rs 40 lakh for school in Kashmir

India’s cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar has once again smashed a six off the field after he sanctioned Rs 40 lakh from his MP Local Area Development (MPLAD) funds for construction of a school building in Kupwara district of North Kashmir.

Bowled over by Tendulkar’s this generous gesture, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Friday thanked cricket icon for sanctioning Rs 40 lakh for the school.

Mufti took to her Twitter handle and wrote: “Thankful to @sachin_rt for using his MPLAD funds for the construction of a school building in Kashmir. Even off the field, he continues to inspire us all.”

Earlier, Tendulkar, who represented Team India in 200 Test matches and 463 ODIs, has transformed the lives of villagers in Puttamraju Kandriga in Andhra Pradesh by adopting it.

Tendulkar came forward to adopt Gram Panchayat of Nernoor and habitation of Puttamrajuvari Kandriga in the month of November 2014 under the Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana.

The village, which was languishing in darkness, now has 24×7 power supply. Besides, the village has now an uninterrupted water supply.

Tendulkar, the only cricketer to have 100 international centuries under his name, is now set to adopt Donja in Osmanabad (Maharashtra) under the Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojna.

Tendulkar has sanctioned over Rs 4 crore from his MPLAD fund for development of Donja. The amount will be spent on development of a new school building, a water supply scheme that would provide potable water to each household, concrete roads and a sewage line.
