Rajasthan Royals pacer Andrew Tye wonders how IPL franchises spending amidst the Covid Emergency in India.

Rajasthan Royals pacer Andrew Tye, who left his franchise and departed for Australia in the wake of Covid-19 surge in India, was critical of the franchises spending insane money on cricket at a time when their country is facing an unprecedented health crisis.

The ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League is getting affected with overseas players pulling out of the tournament fast.

Andrew Tye has been of the latest players to pull out while on Monday, RCB also revealed that their overseas players Adam Zampa and Kane Richardson will not be available for the rest of the IPL 2021.

Andrew Tye stated that he was concerned about the safe passage back home and feared contracted the virus that has ravaged the country.

Moreover Tye also indicated that he is baffled with a philosophical question about whether the IPL should continue at all in this situation when the patients are struggling to get admitted to hospitals. “From a player safety point of view, we’re safe now but is it going to stay safe?”

“But looking at it from an Indian point of view, how are these companies and franchises spending so much money, and the government, on the IPL when there are people not being able to get accepted into hospital?” he said according to cricket.com.au.

The right-arm pace bowler also said that sport should continue if it relieves stress but he also said that has everyone doesn’t share this view.

“If sport can continue and be one of those avenues to relieve stress or give a glimmer of hope that the world is OK and there is light at the end of the tunnel, I think it should go ahead. But I know that’s not everyone’s feelings and I completely respect everyone’s views from all angles,” the Aussie pacer added.

Tye who returned to Australia via Doha, after pulling out of IPL Citing personal reasons confirmed that he returned to ensure that he doesn’t get locked out of Australia which is imposing travel restrictions on people returning from India.

‘I just thought I Should Try and get on the front foot and get home before I got locked out of the country ‘ said The who got married this month, shortly before he left for India.
