Rahul now takes battle to Gujarat, challenges BJP to save the bastion

Ahmedabad: Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi today declared that the Congress will defeat the Bharatiya Janata Party in Gujarat, the way it was defeated in Ayodhya.

“In Ayodhya the Congress/INDIA defeated the BJP, what is next?” he asked, with the crowd shouting, “Gujarat”.

Addressing the Congress workers’ convention here today, Gandhi pointed out that Ayodhya was the epicenter of the BJP’s Ram Janam Bhoomi movement started by LK Advani and still the BJP was defeated there and there is no reason that it cannot be defeated in Gujarat also. The ideological bubble of Modi has burst, he remarked.

He said, it was the great leader from Gujarat only, Mahatma Gandhi who led the people of the country to defeat the British. He said the Congress was not scared of the British, while the BJP’s ideological ancestors surrendered before the British. Similarly, it is not scared of the BJP or Modi also.

The Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha appealed to the party workers and leaders to start preparing from now only. He recalled how in 2017, the Congress reached within the striking distance and lost just by 17 seats.

Three more years are left and next time, we will defeat the BJP, he asserted with cheers and applause from the crowd.

Appealing to party workers not to feel scared, Gandhi said, unlike the BJP where complete fear prevails, no such fear prevails in the Congress.

Gandhi said, Modi’s bubble has already burst and his time is up. He said, people of Gujarat have suffered and borne a lot of humiliation and indignity.

“Enough is enough and now we need to teach them a lesson by defeating them in elections”, he said, while referring to the attack on Congress office by BJP workers. “They ransacked our office, we will break their government”, he asserted.
