Prithvi Shaw Century on Maharashtra Debut
By Abhishek Kumar

Prithvi Shaw made a big comeback in domestic cricket with a century on his debut for Maharashtra. He achieved this in the Buchi Babu Invitational Tournament 2025 being played in Chennai.
Shaw, who moved from Mumbai to Maharashtra this season, started his new journey in style. Playing against Chhattisgarh, he scored 111 runs, hitting 14 fours and a six. His hundred came from 122 balls. The innings was important because Maharashtra had lost quick wickets after a steady start. Shaw held one end and built a key partnership with Siddharth Mhatre for the fifth wicket, helping the team recover.
This knock is special for Shaw, as he has faced a tough time in recent years. Injuries, loss of form, and being left out of the Indian team pushed him to look for a new beginning. His decision to leave Mumbai and join Maharashtra was seen as a fresh chapter, and this century has given him the perfect start.
After the match, Shaw said he was happy to begin again and is focusing on basics. “I believe in myself and the work I am doing. This is just the beginning, I want to do well for Maharashtra this season,” he said. He also shared his emotional connection with Chennai, where he has scored runs before. “Getting my first hundred here makes it extra special,” he added.
With this innings, Shaw has sent a strong message to selectors. His confident batting has once again shown his talent and hunger. This debut century not only boosts Maharashtra but also keeps alive hopes of Shaw making a comeback for India in the future.
