By Shivangi Chawla

Whatsapp is one of the widely used apps. It is important to have this app on your phone for every age group whether it’s for doing chit chat with friends, forwarding and sharing project works for the school, college, and office or to do video calls with your loved ones who are on a long distance.

Whatsapp is constantly adding some new features to the app to bring a better chat experience. Apart from enjoying WhatsApp chats with friends, family and loves ones, there are some unwanted relatives or friends who are barely in touch with you but want to stay connected through social media or people who add you to their WhatsApp groups unwillingly to send you ‘good morning’ texts and some annoying WhatsApp forwards every single day. These are the groups you always want to leave but you can’t because you don’t want to look rude.

But thank god that WhatsApp provide you a feature to mute the chats for a few hours, weeks, or a year. but now you will be happier to know that WhatsApp is introducing a new feature to mute the chats forever.
It is Spotted by WABetaInfo, the screenshot shared by the forum shows that the eight hour and one-week mute options are still going to be around, the new addition is the ‘Always’ option that can silence those pesky groups forever. You don’t need to leave them, you can carry on ignoring them as you were.

So far, WhatsApp was only letting you mute chats, one-on-one chats and group chats, for a span of eight hours, one week or one year at the maximum. Once this time period would expire, you would ideally have to remember to mute the concerned chat again. This is essentially not too much work, it takes a few seconds to mute a chat, but it’s annoying and is that one more thing you should not have to do.

Making things easier, WhatsApp is going to introduce an option for you to mute chats forever. Currently, in beta, this new feature replaces the mute for a year option with an ‘Always’.

WABetaInfo tells us that the feature is currently ‘underdevelopment’ and should roll out soon.
