1. Arnab Goswami paid lakhs to BARC CEO to spike ratings of his channel: Mumbai Police.

Mumbai: Republic TV editor Arnab Goswami paid “lakhs” to senior officials of TV ratings agency BARC, including former CEO Partho Dasgupta, to manipulate the channel’s TRP (television rating point), Mumbai Police alleged in a remand note submitted to a magistrate’s court on Monday.

2. Tamil Nadu man tests positive of UK variant of COVID- 19.

One person has tested positive for the UK variant of coronavirus in Chennai and the patient is currently receiving treatment at King’s Institute in Guindy. Speaking to the media on Tuesday, the Tamil Nadu Health Secretary J Radhakrishnan confirmed the positive case and urged people to not panic. The protesters, who say his decision on Dec. 20 was unconstitutional, rallied outside his office despite coronavirus curbs on gatherings.

4. Iran began its 1st human trial of COVID- 19 Vaccine.

Iran launched human trials of its first domestic COVID-19 vaccine candidate, state media reported on Tuesday, which Tehran says could help it defeat the pandemic despite U.S. sanctions interfering with its ability to import vaccines.

Setad, a giant state-affiliated conglomerate controlled by Iran’s supreme leader, said production of the vaccine developed by one of its companies, Shifa Pharmed, could reach 12 million doses per month, six months after a successful trial ends.
