1. No penalty for the individual users of the mobile apps: Indian IT Ministry.

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) on Thursday clerified that no penalty or punishment will be imposed on individual users of the mobile apps like PUBG, TikTok, We Chat, etc.

The intermediaries recognised under Section 69A of the Information Technology Act would be penalised if they fail to comply with the blocking order. This includes social media platforms and other entities of that nature that typically carry user-generated content. 

2. SSR’s father is recovering now, says Shweta Singh Kirti.

Sushant Singh Rajput’s sister Shweta Singh Kirti took to Twitter to announce that their father KK Singh is recovering after a successful operation.

“I would like to thank everyone who prayed for Dad, the operation was successful and he is feeling better now. Keep him in your prayers for a speedy recovery,” she tweeted.

3. Netflix CEO Recieved $616 million from stock sales in 2020.

Netflix CEO Reed Hastings just pocketed $225 million from a stock sale, the latest in a series of such transactions the billionaire has made this year totaling $616 million.

Hastings has collected enough cash in 2020 to produce all four seasons of “The Crown,” all six seasons of “Peaky Blinders” or the equivalent of about 4.7 million annual Netflix subscriptions, based on average monthly subscription costs. The sales, the latest of which was Dec. 21, were made as part of a trading plan.

4. New COVID- 19 Variant case found in Northern Ireland.

Northern Ireland has confirmed the first case for the highly infectious variant of the coronavirus that has emerged in Britain.

The country’s Department of Health said in a statement the variant is likely to have been present in the British-run region for a period of time.

There was no evidence to suggest the variant causes more serious illness or a higher mortality rate or that it affects vaccines and treatments.
