In the first budget presented after the global epidemic of Corona, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman laid out the roadmap to prepare the country to deal with future health disaster. The allocation for the health sector was increased by 137 percent in the budget, recommending the Economic Survey for 2020-21. The increased budget will create a state-of-the-art framework for the identification and investigation of primary (primary), secondary (secondary), and tertiary (tertiary) health services across the country.

Putting health at the top of the six pillars of the budget of 2021-22, Nirmala Sitharaman made it clear that not only the private sector can be left to provide quality and cheap treatment to the common people, but the government should take the responsibility is ready.

According to Nirmala Sitharaman, the government’s effort is not just to create a framework for better treatment of diseases, but the equal emphasis will be placed on measures to prevent diseases before they occur. At the same time, the structure of health and wellness centers being opened under the Ayushman Bharat Scheme in 2018 will also be strengthened for the healthy life of the general public.

Apparently, the Finance Minister took the message of the Corona epidemic correctly and increased the budget allocation for the health sector from Rs 94,452 crore in 2020-21 to Rs 2,23,846 crore in 2021-22. With a 137 percent increase, the budgetary allocation in the health sector has come above two percent. It is to be noted that in the 2017 National Health Policy, the target of allocation of 2.5 to three percent of the budget in the health sector was set and the Economic Survey also stated the need to implement it immediately.
