NARENDRA MODI : THE  TRANSFORMATIVE LEADER OF INDIA

By Anshika Khera

Narendra Modi, born on September 17, 1950, in Vadnagar, Gujarat, is the 14th Prime Minister of India. Rising from humble beginnings as the son of a tea seller, Modi’s journey symbolizes determination, discipline, and strong leadership. He began his political career with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and later joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), where he quickly rose through the ranks.

Modi first gained national attention as Chief Minister of Gujarat (2001–2014), where he emphasized economic growth, infrastructure development, and investment-friendly policies. In 2014, he led the BJP to a historic electoral victory, ending decades of coalition governments, and was sworn in as Prime Minister. He was re-elected in 2019 with an even stronger mandate.

His tenure has focused on initiatives like Make in India, Digital India, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, and Atmanirbhar Bharat, aimed at strengthening India’s economy, promoting cleanliness, and boosting self-reliance. Internationally, Modi has worked to elevate India’s global profile through active diplomacy, closer ties with major powers, and a strong stance on national security.

Supporters praise him for decisive governance, anti-corruption drives, and policies aimed at empowering the poor, such as the Jan Dhan Yojana and Ujjwala Yojana. Critics, however, raise concerns over social polarization and challenges to democratic institutions.

Nevertheless, Narendra Modi remains one of the most influential and charismatic leaders in modern Indian history, shaping the nation’s political and economic direction in the 21st century.
