MUQADDAR KA SIKANDAR : VINOD KHANNA
By Anshika Khera

Vinod Khanna (1946–2017) was a celebrated Indian actor, producer, and politician, known for his charm, versatility, and commanding screen presence. Born in Peshawar, he began his film career in the late 1960s, initially playing negative roles before rising to prominence as a leading man in the 1970s and 1980s. Some of his most memorable films include Mere Apne, Amar Akbar Anthony, Qurbani, Dayavan, and Muqaddar Ka Sikandar.
At the height of his fame, Khanna took a break from Bollywood in the early 1980s to follow spiritual guru Osho Rajneesh, a decision that surprised many but reflected his deep philosophical nature. He later returned to the film industry and regained his stature as one of Hindi cinema’s most respected stars.
Beyond films, Khanna had a successful political career as a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He served multiple terms as Member of Parliament from Gurdaspur, Punjab, and also held ministerial positions.
Vinod Khanna was admired for his dignity, good looks, and professionalism, earning him a lasting place in Indian cinema’s golden era. He passed away in April 2017, leaving behind a legacy of talent, grace, and integrity.
