MP ACCUSED OF RAPE ;  VERDICT IN JUST 14 MONTHS

Former JDS MP Prajwal Revanna , on Friday , was convicted by the Special Court for People’s representatives in a rape case filed against him by a domestic worker . The worker is from KR Nagar in Mysuru , Karnataka. The verdict was delivered just after 14 months when the case was filed , with the trial concluding at a remarkable pace. The quantum of punishment will be announced on Saturday. Revanna , who appeared in court , was seen emotional and broken down and was seen crying as he left the court following the verdict.

The case was filed under multiple sections of Indian Penal Code. Revanna was accused of raping the complainant and recording the video. The case was registered by CID , Criminal Investigation Department. 123 pieces of evidence and a voluminous charge sheet were submitted by Inspector Shobha , leader of the special investigation team of CID. The trial commenced on December 31,2024. The sections under which Prajwal Revanna was convicted carry varying degrees of punishment. IPC sections 376(2)(k) and 376(2)(n) prescribe a minimum sentence of 10 years while IPC Section 201 provides for a minimum of one year , extendable up to 7 years.

The sentence will be pronounced on Saturday by the court.
