Man with the Golden Mask of Rs 2.89 Lakhs: Pimpri-Chinchwad, Pune

After we have popularly known James Bond villain Francesco Scaramanga as The man with the golden gun, read about a mysterious prisoner popularly known as The Man in the Iron Mask in the novel by French storyteller, Alexander Dumas, here comes The Man in a Golden Mask from Pimpri Chinchwad of Pune district.
Shankar Kurade, a Pimpri-Chinchwad resident of Pune district, has got himself a gold mask made of worth Rs 2.89 lakhs. “It’s a thin mask with minute holes so there’s no breathing difficulty. I’m not sure if this mask will be effective,” told Shankar Kurade to news agency ANI.
On July 1, 2020, the total COVID-19 cases in Pimpri Chinchwad rose to 3,284. At Pimpri Chinchwad, the death toll due to COVID-19 is 47.
The mortality rate is lower than that of Pune, State, and Nation as stated in the reports of the Indian Express survey. “Since April, The mortality rate has hovered between 1.4 percent and 1.8 percent since April, much below the state’s average mortality rate of 4.72% and the national average of 3.13 percent. It is also lower than neighboring Pune city’s mortality rate of 3.93 percent, “the report added.
