Major terror attack prevented in Jammu and Kashmir, 19 grenades recovered.

Security forces on Sunday recovered Chinese grenades from the forest area in Surankote belt of bordering Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir. Police sources said that joint teams of Police and Army this morning on specific inputs launched searches in the general area of Phagla area of Surankote, adding, “the team recovered 19 Chinese grenades during searches and they were seized on the spot.

“In a major success for a joint effort of security forces and police, nefarious designs of inimical elements to disrupt peace and tranquillity in Poonch region were foiled Sunday morning,” the representative said.

The Indian Army’s Rashtriya Rifles and the Jammu and Kashmir Police dispatched a “well-coordinated joint operation” in Phaglaregion of Surankote in Jammu’s Poonch in the wake of receivingcertain info that terrorists were wanting to target security forces on NH 144A (Jammu-Rajouri-Poonchhighway).

This is the second significant recovery of explosives in the Jammu district in as numerous days.

On Saturday, security powers recovered 40 kg of highly explosives material, a five-litrepressure cooker Improvised Explosive Device (IED), five-inch iron pipe IED, four electrical detonators, electrical wire, power sources, six substantial cells, protection tape and 1.5 kg iron splinters from Chakarandi town of Dodadistrict.
