Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray announces strict ‘Janta Curfew’ in Maharashtra from today: Check What’s Open and What’s Not

Alarmed over fresh spike Covid-19 infection in the state, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Tuesday announced strict 15- day lockdown-like measures aimed to break the infection’s chain.
Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray ordered that there will be a strict ‘Janta Curfew’ starting at 8 pm on April 14. The Janta Curfew will remain in effect till 7 am on May 1.
Addressing people via live video broadcast on social media, Uddhav Thackeray said that the state government is continuously upgrading its healthcare infrastructure but the health facilities are under immense pressure due to the rising number of Covid-19 cases.
“There is a shortage of medical oxygen, beds and the demand for Remdesivir has also increased,” he said, as he appealed to opposition parties and the civil society to help the government overcome the crisis. “This is not the time to do politics,” he said.
The Chief Minister also announced that the government has decided to postpone the Class 10 and 12 board examinations for the state education board.
Describing the situation as scary, Uddhav Thackeray said that he has requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to allow procurement of oxygen from other states. He also said that he would request PM for taking Air Force, Army’s help for tackling the shortage of oxygen and medicines in the state.
On Tuesday, Maharashtra reported 60, 212 new Covid-19 cases. This was the second occasion in three days when the state reported more than 60,000 cases.
Here are the main set of new Covid-19 rules which will be imposed in Maharashtra starting from 8 pm today.
1.As per the Maharashtra government order, Section 144 of CrPC will be imposed throughout the state to prevent gatherings.
2. No one is allowed to move in a public place without valid reasons.
3. All establishments, public places, activities, services shall remain closed.
4. Services and activities mentioned in the ‘essential category’ are exempted and their movements and operations will continue unrestricted.
5. Based on local conditions, local authorities will decide whether domestic help, drivers, attendants will be allowed to work in a locality.

Maharashtra reported 60,212 fresh coronavirus positive cases on Tuesday, taking the tally to 35,19,208 while 281 fatalities pushed the toll to 58,526. Maharashtra is now left with 5,93,042 active cases.
