Paramahansa Yogananda one said, ‘You realize that all along there was something tremendous within you, and you did not know it’ and this pandemic, we all realize that, we the people has the power and strength to do something cosmic for the society we live in. We realize that we can give something back to the society through little attempts and efforts. It is our blood and sweat that makes us familiar with our potential.

For one of our many segments of Unsung Covid Warriors, today we introduce Yogoda Satsang Society of India, which is a non-profit and non-sectarian spiritual organisation established by Paramahansa Yogananda. They have been working with athundering spirit to assist and provide help for the needful ones with Medical equipment’s, financial means, PPE kits, medical gloves, masks etc. We exchanged a few words with themand conducted a very simple yet informative call with them to know about their involvement in this pandemic and mark their journey!

They believe that people need people right now and are needy as they are getting no support from Health Institutions and their surroundings. They are not only helping in NCR region but all over India. Places like Haryana, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Gujrat, Uttarakhand, and Punjab are being covered. They have joined hands with other various foundations where they help them get the material they need. They also spread love and supportive messages on their website.

Swami Nisthanand Ji from Yogoda Satsang Society of India says ‘YSS, through its Kendras and Mandalis, has been trying to reach out directly to needy individuals and families. In addition, it is assisting the relief activity that is being done by several hospitals and NGOs who are providing treatment and health care to Covid-19 patients. Given below are some of the activities that we have done so farIn Rajahmundry, we are supplying food packets through a volunteer group to those affected by Covid; and in Ranchi, Dwarahat, Bangalore, Haridwar, and Thirukazhukundram we offered dry ration to those who have lost their livelihood due to the lockdown that has been imposed. As hospitals are expanding to take care of more patients, we are providing additional beds and life-saving medical equipment, such as BiPAP machines, oxygen concentrators, etc. at Nagpur, Vijayawada, Mumbai, Haridwar, Vellore, and Coimbatore. At Chennai, Coimbatore, Dakshineswar, Lucknow, Mysore, and Mangaluru we are providing essential supplies such as PPE Kits, face shields, medical gloves, sanitizers, etc., to the medical frontline staff and volunteers, who directly serve Covid-19 patients. We are also distributing essential items to various Government Hospitals such as hot water dispensers at Udupi, cadaver bags at Chennai, etc.We have offered financial assistance to some patients who are in ICUs, to partially defray their expenses; and in some cases, extended financial support to the next of kin of the deceased, if the deceased was the only earning member in that family.’

Keeping his words in mind, we believe that when one has the ethos of standing up for the society when they need some assistance is when one can achieve great results and major accomplishments.  They are our another unsung covid warrior that needs our thank you!
