Jagdeep Dhankhar resigned from the post of Vice President, citing health reasons

Jagdeep Dhankar has resigned from the post of vice-president citing his health. In 2022, he was sworn in as the 14th vice-president. On 6th August 2022, elections were held for the post of vice-president and in this election, Bipasha’s candidate Margaret Alva was standing and Jagdeep Dhankar defeated her and became the vice-president. Jagdeep Dhankar got 528 votes out of 725 and Margaret Alva got 182 votes.
She has been the governor of Rajasthan and Uttarakhand. Jagdeep Dhankar has written in his resignation letter that “Respected Prime Minister, in order to give priority to health and to accept the advice of doctors, I am resigning from my post as per Article 67(a) of the Constitution. I express my deep gratitude to the Prime Minister of India, I have been supporting you, with whom my tenure has been peaceful and better.
I also express my deep gratitude to the respected Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers. The cooperation and support of the Prime Minister has been valued and I have always been grateful to you during my tenure. I have learnt a lot from them. I believe that the love, trust and affinity that I have received from the Parliament will always remain in my memory.
I am grateful for the fact that the experience and knowledge that I have gained as the Vice-President in this great democracy has been very valuable. It is a matter of good fortune and satisfaction for me that I have witnessed and played a part in India’s tremendous economic progress and its rapid development in this familial society.
It is true for me to serve during this important period in the history of our country. I am talking about respect. Today, when I am leaving this honourable post, my heart is filled with pride and immense hope for India’s achievements and its great achievements.” With deep respect and gratitude, Jagdeep thank you.
He cited health as the reason, in the first line itself he said that health has to be given priority and he is following the advice of doctors, although till now it is not known what kind of health problem he is facing.
This allegation is often made on Jagdeep Dhankar by the opposition and they always say this, last time when the Parliament session was going on, the opposition also alleged that you do not give the opposition people a chance to speak, you speak on behalf of the government. For your information, let me tell you that Jagdeep Dhankar was born on 18th May 1951 in Jhunjhunu district of Rajasthan, initial education was in the village, then took admission in Sainik School Chittorgarh, then got selected in National Defence Academy (NDA) but he did not go, then he did graduation from Rajasthan University, did LLB and later was also a senior advocate and continued practicing law till 30th July 2019 when he could not take charge of the Governor.
At the age of 70, he was appointed as the Governor of West Bengal. When he was awake he also came to Lok Sabha. In 1989 he was elected to 9th Lok Sabha from Jhunjhunu seat of Rajasthan. Then in 1990 he was the Central State Minister. He was also a member of Rajasthan Legislative Assembly from Kishangarh Legislative Assembly area.
