Mayawati Slams UP government after the bodies of two girls were found hanging from a tree

15 September 2022 (New Delhi): Mayawati, the chief of the Bahujan Samaj Party, slammed the Uttar Pradesh government on Tuesday for the state’s law and order situation after the bodies of two minor sisters from the scheduled caste community were discovered hanging from a tree in Lakhimpur Kheri district. Taking to Twitter, the BSP chief condemned the incident, claiming that criminals are freely roaming in Uttar Pradesh because of government’s negligence towards its citizens.

She twitted that, ” This incident has exposed the law-and-order situation in the state and the false claims made by the ruling government on women’s safety etc. in UP. Government is busy hiding the truth in such heinous crimes including Hathras and the criminals are fearless. The UP government should make necessary reforms in its policy, methodology and priorities.”

Four people has been arrested

Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh police said on Thursday that four people had been arrested after the bodies of two minor sisters has been discovered hanging from a tree in the Lakhimpur Kheri district.

Local villagers and the girl’s family marched and blocked the road, demanding justice for the victims.The deceased’s family accused three men of rape and murder and staged a protest at the Nighasan crossing a few kilometers from the village. Lakhimpur Kheri Superintendent of Police (SP) Sanjiv Suman arrived at the protest site with the police force and assured villagers that strict action would be taken against the accused. The bodies have been sent for the post-mortem and reports are awaited.
