IPL 2018: Record-breaking Virat Kohli Becomes Highest Run-scorer Of The League
Virat Kohli went past Suresh Raina to become the highest run-scorer in the Indian Premier League.
While Virat Kohli and his Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) are not having the best of the Indian Premier League IPL (2018), the India captain at least has crossed one landmark when he went past Suresh Raina as the top run-scorer of the league. Raina has scored 4558 runs off 163 innings he has played in the IPL so far. Kohli needed 31 runs to catch up with Raina during the match with Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium on Tuesday and duly crossed the figure, even though his side was always behind the big target.
While the Royal Challengers Bangalore have had no results to write home about, Kohli has been the silver lining for the otherwise floundering side. The captain who scored an unbeaten 92 right at the top of the order was the only major contributor as they tried to chase down the target of 214.
The only player to get to 5000 franchise runs for the same team. Virat ❤️#RCB, #RCB❤️❤️ Virat back!#PlayBold #MIvRCB pic.twitter.com/erHHyMgfkb

Against Mumbai, Kohli scored more than 55 percent of the runs for his team and face more than half the balls bowled by the opposition too on his way to recording the second highest individual score (92*) of the season so far. Co-incidentally, the highest individual score so far this season was also scored in Tuesday’s match by Rohit Sharma (94).
