Indo-China border conflict – Navy will deploy its combat aircraft MiG-29K on the border: Know More

The Indian Navy’s P-8I surveillance aircraft are constantly hovering in eastern Ladakh in the wake of tensions with China and now preparations are underway to put on board the MiG-29K. The deployment of these naval warships at different bases of the Air Force is in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s instructions and the thinking of Chief of Defense Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat.

Prime Minister Modi instructed to coordinate the three arms of the Defence – Army, Navy, and Airforce. At the same time, CDS has given the vision to deploy air force as well as naval warplanes on the northern or western borders of the country. Government sources said, “The fighter aircraft of the MiG-29 is being planned to be deployed at the Airforce base in the Northern sector.”

They can be used for operational flights (operational flying) on the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh.

The Indian Navy is playing an important role in monitoring the LAC amid an ongoing dispute with the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) of China. Naval aircraft are being used to monitor Chinese movements around the border.

Naval surveillance aircraft were heavily used even during the dispute in Doklam in 2017. The Indian Navy has a fleet of more than 40 MiG-29 warplanes deployed onboard the aircraft carrier INS Vikramaditya. They fly a regular flight from INS Hans, a naval fighter base in Goa. The Indian Navy bought these aircraft from Russia a decade ago.

The aircraft carrier INS Vikramaditya is roaring at sea with his Carrier Battle Group. The Indian Navy has been closely monitoring the activities of the Chinese Navy in the Indian Ocean region. The Navy has deployed a number of warships, including docks and long-range vessels capable of landing planes.

Indian Navy warships also performed maneuvers (PASSEX) with American aircraft carrier USA Nimitz.
