Goal: Olympic preparation and overall sports growth
The Indian government has launched a brand new sports policy called “Khelo Bharat Niti 2025”, aiming to improve sports across the country and prepare India to host the 2036 Olympic Games.
This policy focuses on making sports a bigger part of daily life, education, and the economy — not just for winning medals but also for creating jobs and building a sports culture across India.
The Policy is Based on 5 Big Goals:
- Winning More Medals
The government wants to find young sports talent early, give them better training, coaches, and equipment. Sports science and technology will also be used to improve athlete performance.
2. Sports as a Business
Sports will be promoted as an industry. Private companies will be encouraged to invest in leagues, events, and build new stadiums. Sports tourism will also be developed.
3. Inclusion for All

Special focus will be given to include girls, tribal children, disabled athletes, and LGBTQ+ players. Traditional Indian games will also be brought back and promoted.
4. Sports for Everyone, Every Day
People will be encouraged to play sports daily — in schools, colleges, workplaces, and homes. More local playgrounds and fitness zones will be built.
5. Linking Sports with Education
Sports will become a subject in schools. Teachers and coaches will get special training so that students can take sports seriously from a young age.
This new policy is expected to bring big changes in Indian sports, both at the grassroots and international level. The government believes that Khelo Bharat Niti 2025 will help India build a strong future in sports and prepare to host the world in 2036.
