India vs England – 4th Test, Day 1 Highlights

By Abhishek Kumar

England won the toss and elected to field first, inviting India to bat on the opening day of the 4th Test match.

India got off to a solid start, thanks to an impressive opening partnership between KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal. The duo added 94 runs for the first wicket, putting pressure on the English bowlers early on.

However, after the fall of the first wicket, England managed to fight back. India lost three quick wickets, and the scoreboard read 140/3. Despite the setback, the Indian team responded strongly with another 95-run partnership, regaining momentum.

Key Performances:

KL Rahul looked in fine touch, but was dismissed for 46 runs, just when he was settling in. It was Chris Woakes who provided England with the crucial breakthrough.

Ben Stokes also played a key role with the ball, picking up 2 important wickets.

Injury Blow for India:

The biggest setback of the day came when Rishabh Pant was struck on the leg and suffered a serious injury. He had been performing well with both the bat and gloves, showing confidence and sharp reflexes behind the stumps. However, this injury could rule him out for the remainder of the series — a major blow for Team India.

End of Day 1:

At stumps on Day 1, India reached 264/4 in 83 overs.
Ravindra Jadeja and Shardul Thakur were at the crease, holding firm and fighting for the team.
