India vs England 4th Test 2025 – India Successfully Defend the Match

The Indian team successfully defended the match after the dominance of the England team.
A brilliant partnership of 188 runs between KL Rahul and Shubman Gill, after two early wickets, changed the momentum. They showed great temperament and class. Because of that partnership, India managed to save the match.

About the Match:

India scored 358 runs in their 1st innings. Sai Sudharsan was the highest run scorer for the team with 61 runs. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant also scored half-centuries.

In reply to 358, England batted aggressively and scored 669 runs in their 1st innings. Their batters showed the next level of firepower. Two batsmen scored centuries and three scored half-centuries. Captain Ben Stokes scored 141 runs, while Joe Root smashed 150 runs.

With the ball, Ben Stokes also took 5 wickets in India’s 1st innings. Jofra Archer took 3 wickets. Because of their bowling, India were all out for 358 runs.

England scored big because Indian bowlers failed to take early or key wickets. They got wickets, but only after big partnerships. For India, Ravindra Jadeja took 4 wickets after bowling 37.1 overs at an economy of 3.85. Jasprit Bumrah and Washington Sundar took 2 wickets each.

India Under Pressure in 2nd Innings

After the first innings, India were under huge pressure to save the match. When India came to bat in the 2nd innings, two wickets fell in the first over at a score of 0. But KL Rahul and Shubman Gill fought back brilliantly, creating a partnership of 188 runs. Shubman Gill scored 103 runs, and KL Rahul made 90.

After that, Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar smashed centuries and built an unbeaten partnership of 202 runs. Jadeja scored 107, and Washington Sundar made 101. Because of their heroics, India successfully defended the match.

All Eyes on the 5th Test

The 5th Test is very important for India. If India lose or draw the match, they will lose the series.
India must win to level the series 2–2. The 5th Test between India and England starts on 31st July at The Oval.
