India created history on Thursday as they walked out against Oman in the Asia Cup 2025 group stage at Abu Dhabi. The match was a special one because it marked India’s 250th T20 International making them only the second team in the world to reach this figure. The first team to do so was Pakistan who have played over 275 T20Is.
India’s T20I journey started back in December 2006 when they faced South Africa in Johannesburg. Since then India has been one of the most successful teams in the format. The Men in Blue have already won two ICC T20 World Cups the first in 2007 under MS Dhoni and the second in 2024 under Rohit Sharma.

Before the Oman clash India’s record stood at 171 wins 71 defeats 1 tie and 6 no results from 249 matches This makes their win percentage over 66%, showing their dominance in T20 cricket across the years.
For the milestone game India made a couple of changes in the XI. Jasprit Bumrah and Varun Chakravarthy were rested while Arshdeep Singh and youngster Harshit Rana came in. Skipper Suryakumar Yadav won the toss and decided to bat first.

This achievement highlights India’s consistency and strength in T20 cricket. From Yuvraj Singh’s famous six sixes in 2007 MS Dhoni’s leadership Virat Kohli’s match-winning knocks to Rohit Sharma’s captaincy and now Suryakumar Yadav’s rise India’s journey in this format has been full of memorable moments. With 250 T20Is now completed India has once again proved why they are considered a powerhouse of the shortest format.
