In a devastating explosion in Delhi, eight lives were tragically lost.The top police officer has confirmed the news.

A high-intensity blast occurred near the Red Fort Metro Station on Monday evening, resulting in the deaths of at least eight people and causing several vehicles to catch fire. The explosion ignited a fire that rapidly spread to nearby cars.
The Delhi Fire Department informed news agency ANI that the incident took place near Gate Number 1 of the station.
Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan (LNJP) Hospital’s medical superintendent informed news agency ANI that eight individuals succumbed to their injuries before reaching the hospital.
The Chandni Chowk Traders’ Association shared videos that captured the extent of the explosion. One video showed a body lying on a vehicle, while another appeared to show a body on the road. Eyewitnesses reported seeing human remains near the blast site.
“Six cars, two e-rickshaws and one autorickshaw were gutted in the fire,” said a fire department official told PTI.
After the explosion, a high alert has been sounded in the Capital. The injured, multiple in numbers, were rushed to the LNJP hospital, sources told ANI.
A total of 7 fire tenders have reached the spot. A team from the Delhi Police Special Cell has also reached the site. The reason behind the explosion is not known yet.
On Monday, the Delhi Police detained the owner of a Hyundai i20 car that was involved in an explosion near the Red Fort. The car’s owner, identified as Md Salman, was apprehended in Haryana’s Gurugram.
Salman had sold his car to a person in Okhla, the official said, adding that the car was registered in his name and had a Haryana registration number plate.
Delhi Police, in collaboration with Gurugram Police, apprehended Md Salman on Monday. They are currently interrogating him regarding the car. Initially, he had sold it to a person named Devendra in Okhla. Subsequently, the vehicle was sold again to someone in Ambala. The police are actively investigating the identities of the individuals involved in these transactions. A senior police officer informed PTI about this development.
