Hrithik Roshan Moves Delhi High Court Seeking Protection of Personality Rights Amid Rise in AI Misuse

By Ayush Sachan

New Delhi: Actor Hrithik Roshan has become the latest Bollywood celebrity to approach the Delhi High Court, seeking protection of his personality and publicity rights amid the growing misuse of celebrity identities online.

Over the past month, several leading figures from the film industry including Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Karan Johar, Jackie Shroff, Anil Kapoor, and Kumar Sanu have filed similar petitions to curb the unauthorized use of their names, images, and likenesses, particularly in AI-generated content and commercial advertisements without consent.

Hrithik’s plea, which will be heard on Wednesday by Justice Manmeet Pritam Singh Arora, seeks to safeguard his name, image, voice, and overall likeness from being exploited for commercial gain by third parties. His suit names several known and unknown entities, including “John Does” a legal term for unidentified individuals allegedly using his persona for profit without authorization.

The petition underscores a growing concern in the entertainment industry over the unauthorized digital replication of celebrities, as advancements in AI make it easier to fabricate or manipulate their identities for commercial or malicious purposes.

Interestingly, Justice Arora is also set to hear a related case filed by veteran singer Kumar Sanu, who has accused unidentified parties of circulating morphed videos and AI-generated content misusing his voice and image online.

On the Work Front

Hrithik Roshan was last seen in War 2, alongside Jr NTR and Kiara Advani. The actor is now preparing to make his directorial debut with Krrish 4, in which he also stars. The film’s female lead is yet to be officially announced, generating considerable buzz among fans.

Additionally, Hrithik is set to turn producer for the upcoming Prime Video web series Storm, featuring Saba Azad, Parvathy Thiruvothu, Alaya F, Srishti Shrivastava, Rrama Sharma, Ashish Vidyarthi, and Rajit Kapur in pivotal roles.
