Hathras: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a chargesheet against the four men who were accused for the rape and murder of a 19- year old Dalit woman in September at the Hathras district in Uttar Pradesh. Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath recommended the CBI probe in this rape case which shocked the nation.

The chargesheet has been filed on the basis of the last statement of the victim.

The Dalit woman was allegedly raped and murdered by four men of upper caste groups in the village on September 14. After the assault, the four accused chopped off her tongue so that she won’t file the case against them. She died on September 29 at Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital during her treatment.

After her death, UP police allegedly cremated the victim’s body without her family’s consent, not letting to carry out her last rites. Such insensitive attitude by UP administration invited some wild remarks from Allahabad High Court.

After this, the probe was handed over to CBI, and the four accused were put through various forensic science tests.

During its investigation, the Central Bureau of Investigation found out that one of the four accused is a minor as per the data in his school marksheet. Making the claims, CBI pointed at the blunders made by UP Police during the investigation.

The mother of the minor accused told India Today TV that a CBI team had visited their residence and taken the marksheet from her. She also claimed that her son is a minor. “They also took some of my elder son’s clothes along with the marksheet. He is a minor,” said the mother.
