ESTEEMED DIGNITARIES PAY TRIBUTES : KARGIL VIJAY DIWAS

After nearly a three month long battle on the heights of Kargil in Ladakh , the Indian army declared victory on the successful completion of ‘Operation Vijay’ on 26 July , 1999. This day is commemorated as India’s victory over Pakistan in the war.

On the 26th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas, President Draupadi Murmu and Prime minister Narendra Modi led the nation in paying the tributes to the martyrs . Families of the Kargil heroes also paid their tributes at the Kargil War Memorial at Drass in Kargil. President Draupadi Murmu, on Saturday , 26 July , paid the tributes to the Kargil martyrs and said that Kargil Vijay Diwas symbolises the dedication , strong passion and zeal of the country’s jawans.
Several political leaders pour in their heartfelt tributes to the martyrs of Kargil War. Prime minister Narendra Modi wrote on X as quoted , “ Heartfelt greetings to the countrymen on Kargil Vijay Diwas. This occasion reminds us of the unparalleled courage and valour of those brave sons of mother India who dedicated their lives to protect the nation’s pride. Their passion to sacrifice everything for the motherland will continue to inspire every generation. Jai Hind!!.”
Rajnath Singh also joined the celebration of Kargil Vijay diwas , calling the sacrifice of the soldiers as a timeless reminder of the unwavering strength of the Indian armed forces. He wrote on X as quoted, “ On Kargil Vijay Diwas, I pay heartfelt tributes to the bravehearts who displayed extraordinary courage, grit and determination in defending our nation’s honour in the toughest of times. Their supreme sacrifice in the Kargil War is a timeless reminder of the unwavering resolve of our armed forces. India shall remain forever indebted to their service.
The leader of the opposition in Rajya Sabha, Rahul Gandhi , also wrote on X , as quoted “ On Kargil Vijay Diwas, I offer my heartfelt tributes and countless salutations to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives while protecting the nation. India will forever remain indebted to them and their families.”
