Doctor Refuses to Wear Mask at Supermarket, Calls it ‘Foolish Rule’.

There is no dearth of Covidiots in the middle of Covid-19 Emergency, even educated ones are not behind in flouting the Covid protocols.

In a shocking viral video, a doctor refuses to wear a mask at a supermarket in Mangaluru city of Karanataka. The doctor has been identified as B Srinivas Kakkilaya, who has now been booked under the Epidemic Act.

Mangaluru based doctor B Srinivas Kakkilaya has been booked for refusing to wear a face mask while shopping at a mall’s grocery store and then arguing with the store manager when asked to do so.

The doctor even called the protocol of wearing the mask in public places as ‘foolish rule’. The doctor can be heard saying that he has already recovered from Covid-19 and is not a threat to anyone.

The supermarket staff even told the doctor that they can provide him a mask if he doesn’t have one, but he had to wear a mask on the premises as a rule for his safety and the safety of others.

However, the doctor argued again by saying that wearing a mask does not help anybody and he has just recovered from Covid so he is not putting anyone in danger.

Following the incident, the store manager approached Police with a written complaint stating that the doctor’s action had put himself, his employees, and other customers at risk.

“Despite repeated requests, the doctor refused to wear the mask and even questioned the government guidelines. In the pretext of that, the shopkeeper came to register a complaint at Mangalore East police station. We have taken up the case and are looking into it,” the police chief said.

Meanwhile, the doctor is now booked under sections 4,5and 9 or Karanataka State Epidemic Act 2020 following a complaint by the store.

Amid the Covid-19 crisis, the government has strictly asked everyone to follow Covid’s appropriate behavior- maintaining social distance and regularly washing hands, wearing face masks when going outside of the outside. Mask is also important for those who have recovered from the Covid-19 infection.
