Initial investigations suggest that the bomb was prematurely detonated and caused less damage than it could have. Consequently, the case has been handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA).

On November 10, 2025, in New Delhi, Delhi Police personnel and the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team investigated the site of a blast that occurred in a Hyundai i20 car near the Red Fort Metro station.

The Lal Quila Metro Station will remain closed on Wednesday, November 12, as a precautionary measure. This decision was made in light of the heightened security measures implemented across the national capital following the explosion of a car near the Red Fort on Monday, November 10.

Sources revealed that the Ministry has handed over the ongoing investigation to the National Investigation Agency (NIA), indicating that it is being considered a terrorist act. Initial findings suggest that a doctor from Pulwama was likely the sole occupant of the car that exploded, and the bomb was prematurely detonated, resulting in significantly less damage than it could have caused.

Shaheen Saeed, a 40-year-old woman doctor, was arrested from Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday, November 11, as per a J&K Police source. This arrest brings the total number of arrests in the “terror module” case to eight. At least 20 other individuals are still being questioned in the region. The Red Fort car explosion was preceded by a 20-day-long investigation in Jammu and Kashmir, which was linked to two terror outfits, including Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM).
