Congress scion Rahul Gandhi takes a dig at PM Modi in this poem on twitter

Congress president Rahul Gandhi today fired another salvo at Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the Nirav Modi fraud case, alleging that the PM who once promised corruption-free India was now enabling and shielding scamsters.

“First it was Lalit, then Mallya, and now Nirav too has given the slip. Where is the guardsman who said ‘Na khaunga, na khane dunga’? The people are longing to know the reason behind Saheb’s silence. His sealed lips are shouting out where his loyalties lie,” tweeted Rahul.

The Gandhi scion was pointing out how IPL czar Lalit Modi absconded to the UK after being found guilty of money laundering, betting, and accepting kickbacks, among other charges. Liquor baron Vijay Mallya, too, flew the coop in 2016 before he could be brought to book for defaulting on loans to amounting to Rs 9,000 crore.

Rahul has been poking at the studied reticence maintained by the Prime Minister ever since the Rs 11,400 crore swindle came to light. Yesterday, he asked PM Modi and finance minister Arun Jaitey to “speak up” and stop behaving like they were indeed “guilty” of India’s biggest “bank loot scam”.

State-owned Punjab National Bank (PNB) admitted to unearthing a fraud to the tune of over Rs 11,000 crore involving diamantaire Nirav Modi’s companies and certain other accounts with the bank’s flagship branch (Brady House Branch) in Mumbai and its second largest lending window in India.

Nirav Modi, the prime accused, fled the country days before PNB filed a complaint with the CBI. The ruling BJP and the Congress have been flinging allegations at each other over the culpability of the banking fraud that dates back to 2011.
