Big Change in KKR Camp Abhishek Nayar Takes Over as Head Coach

One of the most popular teams in the IPL Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) has taken a big and bold decision ahead of the next season After a disappointing 2025 campaign where the team couldn’t perform up to expectations KKR management decided to make a major change in their coaching setup. The franchise has officially removed Chandrakant Pandit from the position of head coach and appointed Abhishek Nayar as the new head coach of the team.

This move marks a fresh start for KKR. Abhishek Nayar has been part of the KKR family since 2018 and has played a key role in developing the team’s young players behind the scenes. Known for his calm nature deep understanding of the game and strong communication skills Nayar has earned the trust of both players and management. He was also part of the KKR setup during their title-winning 2024 season which adds to his credibility.

The management thanked Chandrakant Pandit for his contribution and leadership especially for guiding KKR to the championship in 2024. But after the poor performance in 2025 where KKR managed to win only 5 out of 14 matches the franchise felt a new voice and vision were needed in the dressing room. KKR CEO Venky Mysore said Abhishek has been a pillar of our team for many years His connection with players and understanding of KKR’s culture make him the perfect person to lead the next phase of our journey.

With this new leadership KKR aims to rebuild its strategy focus on young talent and bring back the fire and dominance that fans expect. The purple army is ready for a fresh beginning a new coach a new vision and the same hunger to win
