Asia Cup 2018: Rashid Breaks Down After Loss, Malik Consoles Him Post Victory

Asia Cup 2018 Super Four: Pakistan beat Afghanistan in a last-over thriller in the Super Four game, but what followed next was what won hearts of both nations. Young Rashid Khan was in tears after the three-wicket loss, literally.

That is when Pakistan’s hero of the night came to him and put his hand around the youngster to calm him down. It was a heartbreak for Afghan fans as they came really close and gave Pakistan a run for their money in the ongoing Asia Cup.

Just a day ago, Rashid Khan turned 20 and in the match against Bangladesh, he bagged the Man of the Match, not for his bowling, but for his batting. He scored a quickfire 50+.

It was good to see Malik showing maturity and experience in walking up to the young lad and console him.

Earlier, it was experienced Shoaib Malik, who conjured up a crucial unbeaten 51 under pressure as Pakistan survived a scare from Afghanistan, winning their Super Four match of the Asia Cup by three wickets on Friday. Chasing a competitive 258 to win, Pakistan overhauled the target with just three balls to spare with former captain Malik playing the match-winning knock from 43 balls.

Pakistan required 10 runs from the last over and Malik dispatched pacer Aftab Alam for a six and four after playing a dot ball. Wickets kept falling for Pakistan with star Afghan spinner Rashid Khan yet again proving his utility with a three-wicket haul but Malik held his nerves to keep one end tight.
