As the BCCI reports suggest, there might be a split captaincy between Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli
After the disappointment faced by Indian National team in the just concluded World cup, the Indian Cricket Board is planning to sack Virat Kohli as an ODI captain. Reports suggest that the Indian Cricket board is seriously considering elevating Rohit to lead the ODI side while Kohli will continue to lead the test team.
Ever since India lost in semifinals, there has been a lot of talks about where the team lacked. As nobody expected India to lose this time, it was a shock to everyone. After the bitter world cup exit, there has been a lot going on, Committee of administrators (CoA) has called for a meeting to review the performance in presence of coach Ravi Shastri, captain Kohli and chief selector MSK Prasad of the team and take decisions accordingly.
Considering the reports by BCCI, quoted by IANS, “This is the right time for Rohit Sharma to take the captaincy in the 50-over format to plan ahead for the next world cup and Sharma is the right choice. There will be immense support to the present captain, but it is the right time to change existing ideas and look for fresh ones.”
