India beat Sri Lanka in Super Over thriller after batting first, remain unbeaten in Asia Cup 2025

India and Sri Lanka produced the most dramatic contest of the Asia Cup 2025 Super Four stage at the Dubai International Stadium. After both teams finished with the same score of 202/5 the game was forced into a Super Over where India held their nerve to secure victory and extend their unbeaten run.
Winning the toss Sri Lanka chose to field first putting India into bat. India’s innings got off to a bright start with Abhishek Sharma smashing 61 at the top. He provided the momentum that allowed the middle order to play with freedom. Sanju Samson’s 39 and Tilak Varma’s unbeaten 49 ensured India crossed the 200-run mark finishing at 202/5 in their 20 overs. The total looked competitive on a good batting surface.
Sri Lanka’s reply was built around a magnificent innings from Pathum Nissanka who scored a stunning 107 off 58 balls. His strokeplay kept the chase alive, while Kusal Perera added important runs. However India’s bowlers struck back in the death overs holding their ground to restrict Sri Lanka to exactly 202/5 resulting in a tied game.
The match then went into a Super Over where Indian pacer Arshdeep Singh delivered a match-winning performance. He dismissed both Sri Lankan batters and conceded only 2 runs in the six balls. India’s batters needed just 3 runs to win and completed the chase without fuss sealing a memorable victory. Even though the fixture was a dead rubber with India already qualified for the final and Sri Lanka eliminated the clash produced high drama and entertainment. India now carry strong momentum into the final against Pakistan promising another blockbuster showdown for fans.
