Ashneer Grover reveals why he rejected Virat Kohli as brand ambassador

4th January 2022 (New Delhi): After becoming a household name, thanks to the success of Shark Tank India season one, Ashneer Grover now enjoys a massive fan following on the internet. Though the Indian entrepreneur did not return in the second season, he has been invited at various events and occasions. Recently, he appeared in the podcast, Vagehra Vagehra, where he spoke about not returning to the show. Meanwhile, he also revealed that he once rejected Virat Kohli as a brand ambassador despite being ‘offered’ Anushka Sharma in a package deal.

To give the context of the incident, he informed the listeners that he was discussing an IPL deal with some brokers. He then added that he was keen to place the logo of his brand on the jersey of players. Offering a solution, one of the brokers asked Ashneer to enlist Kohli.

Ashneer asserted, “I decided to take Virat Kohli on board. He asked for an amount, which I won’t reveal here, or else he’ll take offence. They also offered me, Anushka, as a package deal, and I said I don’t want to repeat what Manyavar had already done. So, I asked if they could get me 11 other players for half of what Kohli was demanding. And that’s the deal I finally struck.”
 
The former co-founder and managing director (MD) of BharatPe said that he once told this story to Kohli and revealed how he reacted to it. He said, “I don’t have a single photo with any of them. I didn’t even go for the shoots. I just have one photo of me talking to Kohli recently. And I was telling him about this story. He said it was very good business.”
