By Ayush Sachan

Tom Cruise, renowned for his iconic roles as Pete Mitchell in Top Gun and Ethan Hunt in Mission: Impossible, has also starred in numerous original movies. His next project is yet to be announced, but it’s been a while since he portrayed a character for the first time. His last role was in the 2017 crime thriller American Made, directed by Doug Liman. Since then, he has reprised his role as Ethan Hunt in three Mission: Impossible movies and starred in the highly successful Top Gun: Maverick, which grossed over a billion dollars.
Cruise’s upcoming movie will see him in a new role. He’ll star in the untitled action film from Alejandro G. Iñárritu, which also features John Goodman, Riz Ahmed, and others. Little is known about the film at the moment, but Cruise shared the first image from production on his personal X account yesterday, which wrapped earlier this year. The movie is reportedly about the world’s most powerful man who causes a disaster and then embarks on a mission to fix the problem he created, ultimately proving himself to be humanity’s savior. It’s currently scheduled for release on October 2, 2026. Cruise’s full caption for the post can be found below.
