Rockets fired, military bases destroyed, Thailand and Cambodia attack each other, 12 killed, what all happened?

These pictures are of the Thailand-Kombia conflict. Both countries have attacked each other. According to media reports 12 people are reported to have died and both countries are accusing each other of attacking. There is an old dispute between both countries, the old issue took a bigger form on the morning of 24th July.

Thailand accused Combia of firing a big rocket and in retaliation targeted Combia’s military bases. Both countries have removed their citizens from the border. Thailand says that 9 of its citizens were killed and more than 14 people were injured in Combodia’s attack, although in some places the death toll is being reported as 12.

According to a BBC report, Thailand’s proprietorship is that Combodia used BM-21 rocket launcher for the attack. The homes of our citizens were also damaged in the attack. Public places were also targeted, hospitals and petrol pumps were also affected.

It is being claimed in some media reports that Thailand has stationed F-16 fighter planes on the border, shelling took place near a temple and this temple has also been a cause of conflict between the two countries for a long time. In the midst of the conflict, the Cambodia government issued a letter in which it was written that on the morning of 24 July, Thailand attacked us, this attack is a violation of the law, for self-defense we also had to respond, we demand that Thailand should withdraw its Sanya Bal from the border.

In this letter, the Cambodia government also mentioned landmines. Actually, there was a dispute between the two countries on 16 July. Thailand accused Combodia of laying landmines in which 4 soldiers were injured, although Combodia calls this allegation baseless.

Now let us understand what the dispute is about between the two countries?

According to the BBC report, this dispute is more than 100 years old, when the border of the two countries was demarcated. The situation became worse in 2008 when Combodia tried to include the temple built on the border in the UNESCO site.

Thailand had protested against this temple of Combodia and even after that small and dead bodies kept occurring between the two countries. If we talk about recent times, tensions again increased this year, in a clash a Combodia soldier was killed and Thailand was blamed for it too.

In the last 2 months both the countries have imposed border restrictions on each other, Combodia has imposed a ban on the import of goods like fruits and vegetables from Thailand and has also stopped the import of electricity and internet services. Both the countries have also increased their military force on the border.

According to BBC report, Thailand has closed its border with Cambodia, both the countries have also removed their citizens living near the border from the border. They have been ordered to clear the border as soon as possible. According to reports, Thailand has sent around 40 thousand citizens to a safe place.
