India Take Control on Day 1 Against West Indies

India vs West Indies 1st Test Ahmedabad Day 1 was all about India. West Indies won the toss and batted first but collapsed badly. They got all out for just 162 runs in 44.1 overs.

Indian bowlers were on fire. Mohammed Siraj led the attack with 4 wickets for 40 runs. Jasprit Bumrah was deadly again at home picking 3 for 42. Kuldeep Yadav chipped in with 2 wickets. West Indies batting looked weak only Justin Greaves (32) and captain Shai Hope (26) showed some fight. Rest of the lineup fell cheaply

India’s reply was solid Yashasvi Jaiswal started well with 36 but missed out on a big score. Debutant Sai Sudharsan failed to impress out for just 7. But KL Rahul stood tall scoring a calm half-century. He finished the day unbeaten on 53 runs (114 balls). At the other end Shubman Gill looked steady on 18 not out.

At stumps, India reached 121/2 in 38 overs trailing by just 41 runs with 8 wickets still in hand. The hosts are in complete control and with a strong middle order yet to come India will look to stretch the lead big on Day 2.
For West Indies the challenge is already huge. Their bowlers need quick breakthroughs in the morning, otherwise the match could slip away fast.
