Wall Street Is Paying Up to $100,000 a Month for Early Access to Trump’s Posts

Trump Media & Technology Group has found a new way to make money: selling Wall Street firms early access to President Donald Trump’s Truth Social posts.

More than 10 firms have already signed up, paying between $60,000 and $100,000 a month for the service.

What Is Truth API?

The product, called Truth API, is a machine-readable data feed designed for companies that need information as quickly as possible.

It delivers posts from the 10 most-followed accounts on Truth Social. Paying customers receive the posts a split second before they become available to the general public.

Interim CEO Kevin McGurn revealed the number of customers during the company’s first-ever earnings call with analysts.

Most of the current customers are high-frequency trading firms, McGurn said. News organizations and AI companies are also reportedly discussing potential subscriptions.

Why Do Milliseconds Matter?

For ordinary users, receiving a post a fraction of a second early may seem insignificant.

For high-frequency trading firms, however, those milliseconds can make a major difference.

Trump has frequently used Truth Social to announce major developments involving:

  • Tariffs
  • Trade agreements
  • Foreign policy
  • Iran
  • Economic decisions

His posts can trigger immediate movements in financial markets.

Getting the information even milliseconds earlier could therefore give trading algorithms an advantage.

McGurn argues that the information is still public. Customers are simply receiving the posts “fractionally faster.”

But that explanation has not ended the debate.

The Legal and Ethical Questions

The arrangement has attracted criticism from watchdog groups and legal experts.

One major concern is the potential conflict of interest: Trump is both the source of market-moving posts and the person whose company is financially benefiting from selling faster access to those posts.

The legal question is more complicated.

Insider-trading rules generally focus on non-public information. In this case, the information eventually becomes public — but paying customers receive it first.

That creates a potential legal gray area.

Two U.S. senators, Elizabeth Warren and Adam Schiff, have already called for action. They want the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to investigate whether the arrangement could violate federal securities laws.

Could Truth API Become a Major Revenue Stream?

Truth Social remains a relatively small platform, and its user growth has been limited.

But Truth API could provide Trump Media & Technology Group with a new source of revenue.

Instead of relying only on advertising or user growth, the company is now attempting to monetize Trump’s influence in financial markets.

For Wall Street firms, the service is about speed.

For Trump Media, it could become one of its most valuable businesses yet.

And for regulators, the bigger question is whether “public information” can still raise concerns when some people are allowed to receive it first — for a price.
