Arvid Lindblad is set to break an unusual Formula 1 record after being promoted to Racing Bulls.

Arvid Lindblad is set to become the 782nd Formula 1 driver when he makes his debut at the 2026 Australian Grand Prix on March 8th.

Alonso and Lindblad will jointly hold the record for the two drivers with the largest age gap to compete against each other in F1 history when Alonso lines up in Melbourne. He will be 44 years, 7 months, and nine days old.

The current record-holders are Alonso and Kimi Antonelli in 2025, with a total of 25 years and 27 days between their birthdates of July 29th, 1981 and August 25th, 2006.

Lindblad was born on August 8th, 2007, four days after one of the most infamous incidents in F1.

On August 4th, 2007, during the qualifying session for the Hungarian Grand Prix, Alonso blocked McLaren team-mate Lewis Hamilton. This incident occurred after Hamilton had disregarded a team order to allow Alonso to pass. This set off a series of events that ultimately reopened Spygate and resulted in McLaren incurring a financial loss of $100 million.

Lindblad was born two months after Michael Schumacher retired for the first time, just two months after Lewis Hamilton’s first win at the 2007 Canadian Grand Prix in his seventh race. Sebastian Vettel also made his Formula 1 debut at Indianapolis in the next race.

Lindblad’s first grand prix will be Hamilton’s 381st.
