Asia Cup Controversy Erupts After India Beat Pakistan in Super Four

By Abhishek Kumar

India once again proved their dominance over Pakistan with a six-wicket win in the Asia Cup Super Four but the real storm came off the field. After the match a Pakistani sports panel went viral for all the wrong reasons. During a live discussion on ARY News one commentator made a shocking comment suggesting kuch ladke firing hi kar den (let some boys open fire) as Pakistan’s defeat looked inevitable. The remark sparked massive outrage online with fans calling it irresponsible and disgraceful.

On the field emotions also boiled over. Sahibzada Farhan who top-scored with 58 celebrated his half-century by making a gun-firing gesture. Haris Rauf too drew attention with a 6-0 hand sign directed towards Indian fans. Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav avoided handshakes with the Pakistani skipper both at the toss and after the match keeping the rivalry heated.

Pakistan set 171/5 but India chased it down clinically. Abhishek Sharma’s explosive 74 off 39 balls and Shubman Gill’s 47 off 28 ensured the win came with seven balls to spare. What should have been remembered for India’s brilliant chase is now overshadowed by reckless remarks and provocative gestures highlighting once again how politics and cricket remain inseparable in this rivalry.
